Leak & Gas Leak Detection

Smell rotten eggs near a stove or water heater? SoCal Plumbing Co's licensed gas technicians use acoustic leak sensors and certified pressure testing to pinpoint and repair gas leaks across Orange County: 24/7.

What we do

A suspected natural gas leak is a same-hour emergency. Our gas-certified plumbers respond around the clock with calibrated combustible gas detectors, acoustic leak sensors, and code-compliant pressure-test rigs. We isolate the section of pipe that's leaking, document it for SoCalGas, and repair or replace the affected line to current California Plumbing Code standards.

We service gas leaks at meters, flex connectors, water heaters, furnaces, ranges, fireplaces, pool heaters, and yard lines. Whether the leak shows up as a high gas bill, a SoCalGas red-tag, or a hissing connector behind the stove, we have the tools and the license (CSLB C-36) to handle it from diagnosis through reinstatement.

Every gas job ends with a verified pressure test, a printed report, and (when required) coordination with SoCalGas to safely turn service back on and relight pilots. Permits are pulled on every repair that needs one.

Gas Leak Detection & Repair cost & what affects pricing

A documented pressure test and leak isolation typically lands in the low-to-mid hundreds. Spot repairs of an accessible flex connector or appliance shut-off are quick and inexpensive.

Whole-house gas-line repipes, yard-line replacements, and red-tag reinstatements range from the mid four figures to low five figures depending on length, routing, and trenching. Every quote includes permit, inspection, and SoCalGas coordination.

Every quote is flat-rate, written, and approved before any work begins. Call (562) 366-0303 for a same-day estimate.

Questions

Leak & Gas Leak Detection: questions we get asked

I can smell gas: what do I do right now?
Leave the house. Do not flip light switches, do not use the phone indoors, and do not look for the leak yourself. Call SoCalGas from outside on 1-800-427-2200, then call us. SoCalGas will make it safe; we do the repair that gets the meter turned back on.
How do you find a leak with no visible sign?
Pressure testing isolates which section is losing, then acoustic listening and gas detectors narrow it to the run. On water leaks the same logic applies with the meter as the witness: if it turns with every fixture closed, something is losing water.
My meter is red-tagged. Can you clear it?
Yes. A red tag means SoCalGas has shut the service until the fault is repaired by a licensed contractor. We repair the line, and the service can then be restored after re-inspection.
Is a slab leak always a repipe?
No. A single failure in otherwise sound copper can be spot-repaired or re-routed. Repeated failures in the same slab usually mean the whole run is at the end of its life, and re-routing above the slab costs less than opening it twice.
